Prodigal Thomas

Reading Thomas's story with the help of the Prodigals

Unfortunately, this week’s audio is very quiet. You’ll have to crank it up loud to hear.

Prodigal Thomas: Luke 15:11-32 and John 20:19-29

Knowing the story of the Prodigals (both the Father and the younger son) helps us understand that Jesus’ reaction toward the disbelieving Thomas was not one of irritation or annoyance, but joy.

The parable of the Prodigals is the lens through which we need to view all of Scripture and life. God is scanning the horizon, looking for us and longing to bring us home. He does it with Thomas by inviting him to touch his wounds and get beyond the emotional barrier of his doubt.

Jesus’ victory over death provided hope for Thomas in his doubt. The resurrection, both Christ’s and ours, is not an ending but a beginning.
